1. Who we are
TruPoint Legal is a Registered Legal Document Assistant practice based in San Jose, California, serving individuals, families, and businesses across Silicon Valley and the wider state. Our office is located at 434 Blossom Hill Road, San Jose, CA 95123. For any privacy question, you can reach us by phone at (408) 766-3532 or by email at info@trupointlegal.com.
This policy applies to information collected through our website at trupointlegal.com and in the course of providing our services. It does not apply to third-party websites or services that may link to or from our site.
2. Information we collect
We collect information in two ways: information you provide directly, and information collected automatically when you use our site.
Information you provide
- Contact details — such as your name, phone number, email address, and mailing address when you call, email, book a consultation, or submit a form.
- Matter information — details you share so we can prepare your documents, which may include property addresses, names of the people involved, and other facts relevant to your request.
- Payment information — processed through a secure third-party payment provider; we do not store full card numbers on our systems.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and device data — such as your IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and the dates and times of your visits.
- Cookies and similar technologies — small files that help the site function and let us understand how visitors use it (see Cookies and analytics).
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your questions, schedule appointments, and provide the services you request;
- Prepare, review, and file your documents accurately;
- Send you confirmations, status updates, and information related to your matter;
- Process payments and keep records required for our business;
- Operate, maintain, and improve our website; and
- Comply with applicable laws and protect our rights and the rights of our clients.
We do not use your information for unrelated marketing without your consent, and we do not sell your personal information.
5. Cookies and analytics
Like most websites, ours may use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working properly, remember your preferences, and measure how the site is used. We may also use analytics services to understand general traffic and improve our content.
You can usually control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. Some features of the site may not work as intended if you disable cookies. We honor recognized browser-based opt-out signals where required by law.
6. How long we keep information
We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy — to provide our services, maintain accurate business and client records, and meet legal, accounting, or reporting obligations. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete it or remove identifying details.
7. How we protect information
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access. No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please avoid sending highly sensitive information by unsecured email.
8. Your California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the CCPA/CPRA), gives you certain rights regarding your personal information. Subject to verification and legal limits, you may have the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect about you and how we use and share it;
- Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Delete personal information we have collected, with certain exceptions;
- Opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information — though, as noted above, we do not sell or share your information for advertising; and
- Non-discrimination — you will not receive different service for exercising your privacy rights.
To make a request, contact us by phone at (408) 766-3532 or by email at info@trupointlegal.com. We will verify your request before responding and will reply within the timeframes required by law. You may authorize someone to make a request on your behalf.
9. Confidentiality of your documents
We understand that the matters you bring to us are personal. The information and documents you share so we can prepare your paperwork are kept confidential and used only to complete the work you have asked us to do, except where you direct us otherwise or where disclosure is required by law. As a Registered Legal Document Assistant, we prepare documents at your direction, and the choices about your matter remain yours.
10. Children’s privacy
Our website and services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
11. Third-party links
Our site may link to other websites, such as our scheduling tool, government recording offices, or partner businesses. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any website you visit.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be posted on this page, and your continued use of our site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
